A few details about Meopham Cricket Club.........
An extract from the Meopham Parish Guide
Pre-eminent because of its long history dating from 1776, the official foundation date of the Club, and even earlier, is cricket on the Village Green. The Green is leased to Meopham Cricket Club who, in return for a peppercorn rent, maintain the Green both as a cricket ground and for the public to enjoy without restrictions except when a match is being played. Seldom is anything written about Meopham without reference to the "famous old cricket club and lovely village green on which cricket has been played for centuries". Meopham Cricket Club has opened its doors to membership from a wide area but it stills prefers to field a side all found from within the Parish.
Meopham Cricket Club is one of the oldest cricket clubs in the county of Kent with references dating back to 1773. Its headquarters are Meopham Green an idyllic village green with two pubs around it!!
The club fields four sides two Saturday and two Sunday. One of the highlights of the club was winning the Hubble & Freeman Kent Invicta Village League Division One in 1994, this was repeated again in the 1999 season and again in the 2000 season and yet again in the 2001 season!
